Maybe something falls from the sky, causes a volcano to grow and erupt, and the sulfur is extra poisonous, causing the people around to get infected.

I don't think I like zombies- I like ghost pirates, but I just don't want them to be dead. Maybe the disease just makes you turn into a pirate. And possibly also see-through for the cool CG effect.

Also, I may have typed this before somewhere else but-

Sandland 2: The Beach Island

Of course, there already is an anime called Sand Land (actually Sandy Randy, oh no, Sando Rando)

So maybe Beachland, or maybe there's too many lands, so Sand Island or Beach Island, and Beach Island 2: They have to go to Trash Island instead
